Basic Human Anatomy: This course is offered for all skill levels and covers the topics of gesture, sight-measuring, proportions of the male and female figure, skeletal and muscular landmarks, structural anatomy (volume and dimension), foreshortening, seeing and rendering values and edges, and introducing emotional content and narrative into your figurative work. Students will work in B&W with live models, skeletons and anatomy charts daily. Recommended preparation: Drawing I. Given the small class size, there will be ample one-on-one time and attention from the instructor

Cast and Still Life - B&W: This is a foundation course with emphasis on observation and the development of fundamental drawing and composition skills. Concepts and skills developed in Drawing I will be applied to drawing from simple plaster casts and simple still lifes. Sight sizing and measuring as well as full achromatic (black & white) value rendering with graphite and charcoal will be applied. Recommended preparation: Drawing I. This course may be considered as part of the foundation for all further study in the visual arts. It is a recommended preparation for Drawing III, Figure Drawing, Painting as well as Illustration.
