Course Description: This is a foundational course with emphasis on classical drawing technique. With the current health crisis, students will be working from high resolution portrait photos of professional models, muscular and skeletal anatomy charts and plaster casts to reference in every session, supplied by the instructor. The course will be taught Synchronously via Zoom, with direct feedback, critique and demonstrations daily. Starting with the structure and proportions of the human head and face, students will then review basic facial muscles and features. Next the course will cover different methods of “blocking in” to establish an accurate likeness and sense of character. The later part of the course will focus on value accuracy and edge control to bring an emotional, narrative content to your portrait work. There will a high level of one-on-one time and attention from the instructor given the online Zoom Format. Students must have a computer / tablet with the current version of Zoom.
